1) Continuous distributed measurement. Distributed fiber optic temperature sensing is truly distributed measurement, capable of continuously acquiring measurement information along dozens of kilometers of temperature-sensing cable, greatly reducing false alarm and missed alarm rates, while achieving real-time monitoring.
2) Immunity to electromagnetic interference — can work normally in high electromagnetic induction environments. The optical fiber itself is made of quartz and is completely insulated. Meanwhile, the signal of the fiber optic sensor is carried by light in the fiber — intrinsically safe, not affected by any external electromagnetic environment.
3) Intrinsic lightning protection. Lightning often damages many electrical sensors. Because fiber optic sensors are completely insulated, they can withstand the impact of high voltage and high current.
4) Long measurement distance, suitable for real-time monitoring. Two outstanding advantages of optical fiber are large transmission capacity and low loss. Without repeaters, remote monitoring over dozens of kilometers can be achieved.
5) High sensitivity and high measurement accuracy. In theory, the accuracy and measurement precision of most fiber optic sensors are better than ordinary sensors, and mature products have proven this.
6) Long service life, low cost and simple system. The material of fiber optic temperature measurement cables is quartz glass tube, which is non-corrosive, fireproof, moisture-resistant and long-lived, usually serving 30 years. Considering the cost of the sensor itself and the subsequent maintenance costs, the use of fiber optic sensors can greatly reduce the final operating cost of the entire project.
